Poet Land Foundation’s micro-grant program aims to bridge the gap between artists’ immediate, short-term financial needs and their ability to create. We fund all types of artists and seek out those who are unconventional and provocative, blending beauty and controversy in art to break traditional rules.
The Carver Grant
Named in memory of the PNW writer, Raymond Carver, whose dirty realism fundamentally revitalized the American short story in the late 20th century by championing a stripped-down, minimalist style, the Carver Grant is Intended for writers, poets, playwrights, essayists, and other artists of words.
The Parker Grant
Named in appreciation of Portland-based painter, Lucinda Parker, whose paintings are large, gestural and dynamic and steeped in traditions of modernism, abstract expressionism, and cubism, this grant is focused on supporting painters, sculptors, and visual artists.
The Smith Grant
Named in honor of Elliott Smith, the melancholy voice of a generation, an artist who revolutionized modern indie music by popularizing a fragile, intimate style of acoustic songwriting paired with unflinching lyrical vulnerability, this grant supports performance artists: singer-songwriters, theatre and dance groups, dancers, bands, and other artists driven by live interaction.
