A Non-Profit Press Dedicated to Publishing New and Unique Voices
Submission Guidelines
We accept a wide range of original works from poetry to short stories to book reviews and criticism.
Our mission is to elevate and lift the voices of queer women, BIPOC, gender-fluid, and non-CIS writers and artists who are historically underpublished.
Our vision is to publish works that would be banned, burned, and generally scorned by the moral majority.
We offer our artists a suite of publishing support to help get your work ready for publication and into the hands of your audience.
As a nonprofit press, we are a partner: we do not own your work and give you 90% of net royalties.
How to send us your work
For poetry, please submit up to 4 original poems at a time.
For prose, short stories, criticism, essays, or reviews, please submit 1 piece.
We consider only original, previously unpublished work. (Writing that has appeared online, including an artist’s own social media posts, is still considered unpublished and can be submitted.)
We welcome poems and works in all languages. For submissions that are not primarily in English, please include a translation of the non-English portion(s) of the work. This is an accessibility consideration for our editorial staff, not an attempt to privilege the English language.
The editors will make every effort to communicate quickly about reviews and decisions regarding the publication of any and all contributed works; Poet Land is composed entirely of a volunteer editorial board. Please fill out the form below.
After receiving and reviewing your application, we will reach out for additional information, including a sample of your work and more about you as an artist. We may want to conduct a more formal interview between you and a member of our editorial board. Thank you for your trust in us.
